Journal
The Rural Extension and Innovation Systems Journal is published in printed and electronic forms by the Australasia-Pacific Extension Network (APEN). Its purpose is to support innovation and practice change in primary industries and natural resource management by publishing high-quality articles on extension theory and practice relevant to Australia, New Zealand and the broader Australasia-Pacific Region. It focuses on extension aspects of agribusiness systems and natural resource systems.
The journal, which was previously known as the Extension Farming Systems Journal, has recently been transferred from Charles Sturt University to APEN. Due to changing priorities, the university could no longer support the journal. We would like to thank Charles Sturt University for hosting the journal since its inception in 2005.
The Journal has two main sections - Research and Practice.
The focus of the Research section to publish research into agricultural and natural resource change management, extension, development and innovation systems issues that follow a rigorous and recognised disciplinary research methodology and targets professional extension practitioners, researchers and educators. Submissions undergo a double-blind review process by members of the Editorial Board and selected reviewers.
The focus of the Practice section is to publish papers that tell stories; promote innovative ideas, tools and process; or provide comment on rural extension and innovation systems activities by or about working with people in (mainly agricultural) industries and communities to achieve change. It targets extension practitioners and educators, agribusiness managers, business consultants and professional farmers. These papers are evaluated by the Editor and an industry panel on scholarship, readability, relevance to industry and likelihood of facilitating change.
Papers relevant to the Journal's key areas of interest are welcome. Please contact the Editor for advice initially and to submit your paper.
