APEN 2027 International Conference
Adelaide, South Australia. 26 to 28 October 2027.
APEN's biennial conference is the heart and soul of the network, and in 2027 it comes to Adelaide.
Over three days it brings together extension practitioners, researchers, industry leaders, community organisations, policy and decision-makers, and international development professionals to explore how extension, engagement, co-design and innovation systems turn research into outcomes that last.
The conference is where members present their work, argue about practice, support students to showcase their research, and build the relationships that carry the profession between conferences. The program will include paper presentations across both the science and the practice of extension, masterclasses, field trips, posters, the Gala Conference Dinner and the APEN Awards.
The South Australian Conference Subcommittee is underway, convened by Paige Cross, with two APEN Directors sitting on it and reporting back to the Professional Development Committee and the Board.

We're seeking a Professional Conference Organiser
APEN is calling for expressions of interest from Professional Conference Organisers to deliver the 2027 conference in partnership with the South Australian Conference Subcommittee.
The role covers budget and cash flow development, sponsorship strategy and servicing, program production, registration management, venue logistics and contracting, risk management, and final reporting and reconciliation.
What to include in your EOI
- Cover letter (one page) with your contact details
- Curriculum vitae with evidence of organising similar projects or conferences, and any current or prior leadership roles and the associated industries
- Your proposed approach and methodology for working with the South Australian Conference Subcommittee
- Full budget breakdown for the PCO component, including proposed milestone payments
- Two recent professional references
