2026 APEN Conversations 

APEN Conversations are member-only virtual discussions held on Zoom. Each session brings members together to explore a topic in extension practice, sharing experiences, asking questions, and learning from each other. They run every two months from May to November, and they're free for all members. Log in to your member account to register.

About this session

Pull up a spot on the virtual picnic rug. This APEN Conversations is a bring-and-share on audience engagement: the tools, formats and small habits that get people talking, asking questions and taking part, whether you're working with a shed full of growers, a project team or a Zoom room.

Noel Ainsworth opens with the story of APEN Conversations itself, and how it grew from a book club into a regular way for members to connect. Then it's over to the group.

Bring one tool or idea that works in your practice, one that didn't, or a question you're still turning over, and leave with a few more to try.

Your facilitator

Noel Ainsworth

Noel Ainsworth is a Principal Supply Chain Horticulturist with the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, based in Brisbane, working with horticultural industries to improve the performance of their supply chains. His career spans management, extension, research and consulting roles across natural resource management, environment and agriculture. Noel holds a Masters of Applied Science (Extension and Rural Development) and has served as APEN President, nudging APEN Conversations into a regular fixture for members.

2026 APEN Webinars

APEN webinars are online learning sessions on Zoom, running every two months from June to October. Each session features a presenter working in extension, with time for questions and discussion. Webinars are free for members, Visit the members area to access your complimentary registration code. Non-members are welcome to attend for $40 + GST.
