APEN Webinar 2.00 to 3.00pm AEST 15 June 2020:
Drivers and barriers to drought preparedness and management: findings and insights from behavioural and social science
Presenter: Fiona McCartney, Senior Social Scientist, Department of Environment and Science, Queensland
For grazing enterprises, drought preparation and ongoing management can involve many different strategies and practices (e.g. strategies and practices that focus on profitability, productivity and/or sustainability). Correspondingly, there are many factors (drivers and barriers) influencing graziers’ decisions, with respect to drought preparation and management. A greater understanding of these drivers and barriers may assist extension staff to better target their activities to the graziers they work with. In this presentation, join Fiona McCartney, a Senior Social Scientist with the Queensland Department of Environment and Science, as she explores these factors further, and how findings and insights from social and behavioural science can assist grazing extension officers (and other extension practitioners) with their approaches and activities.
