Opportunity to become a REIS journal Assistant Editor
We are looking for two Assistant Editors for the REIS journal to replace Sally and Lisa who are moving on from their roles due to work and other commitments.
The role of Assistant Editors is to assist the Editor in managing the operations of the journal to meet its mission. The role provides an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in extension research and practice publication to benefit the discipline and your CV.
We are especially keen to find an Assistant Editor who may be prepared to take over the Editorial role in time, with significant support in the transition by the current Editor and timing of the transition to be negotiated.

Duties
To assist the Editor to fulfil their duties which include:
- Develop and update journal policy and work with the Assistant Editors and Editorial Board of the REIS Journal to decide on and implement the policies to maintain the vision and mission of the journal.
- Manage the submission of Practice and Keynote papers from APEN conferences and arrange for their consideration and editing by suitable editors with an extension background.
- Promote the journal to potential authors including working with APEN conference conveners to publish conference proceedings.
- Work with the APEN Secretariat to submit the completed journal for the printing and uploading to the website.
- Facilitate the indexing and improved ranking of the journal through appropriate agencies.
During conference years, there are a couple of months when there is a significant commitment, but otherwise only a minor commitment is required.
Qualifications
- PhD or substantial completion of a PhD in agriculture or natural resource management, preferably related to agricultural extension.
- Background in publishing in agricultural extension or related fields.
- Ability to assist with management of the day-to-day operations of the journal as outlined in the duties.
- Be a financial APEN member.
