APEN events

The Australasian-Pacific Extension Network holds a range of events for its members each year. These are spread out across Australia and focus on natural resource management, sustainability and the practice of extension in agriculture and the environment. Non-members are always welcome to attend APEN events and actively encouraged to interact with and become part of our network of extension professionals.

Conferences

APEN holds an international conference every four years.

The next one is planned for October/November 2013.  The organisers, venue and theme are yet to be decided.

The last one was held in Busselton, WA from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November 2009APEN 2009 International Conference, "Shaping Change in Communities - Dimensions of Excellence" was a great success.  Proceedings can be accessed from the conference link or from the "Publications" page.

APEN 2006 International Conference (click the link for more info), was held in Beechworth, Victoria in March 2006.

Roadshows

The 2010 APEN Roadshow will be a series of Webinar - Roadshows with events in the regions run by local organisers where a webinar(s) is run simultaneously across the entire network.  At each regional event there will also be networking and professional development opportunities as one or two who attended the 2009 APEN International Conference present their conference presentation and/or insights from the conference.  The first Webinar Roadshow is on March 24 with the 2009 recipient of the APEN Award for Excellence in Extension, Neil Guise, speaking on the work that the award was presented for.  More information here.

In 2005 a successful Roadshow sponsored by the CVCB was held.  The Management Committee decided to hold another in February/March 2009.  The presenter was Dr Ian Plowman.  Two hundred and eighty people registered and attended. Click here for more details.

Forums

A national forum is held every two years and coincides with the iternational event. The forum usually rotates between states and is run by a committee of local APEN members.

The next one is planned for October/November 2011, perhaps in NSW.  Details are yet to be confirmed.

The last one was the APEN Forum 07 (click the link for more info) run in Canberra on 13, 14 November 2007.

Regional and Cluster events

APEN holds regional and cluster events on an irregular basis, depending on the energy levels of local members to get together to organise an event.

The Qld eExtension workshop (click the link for more info) was held in various locations across Queensland on 12 July 2007.

DIY events...

Localised  cluster events are something that many members appreciate, so why not organise a local get together, a counter meal at the local pub or a cuppa perhaps and see what people would like to do?

Roe at the APEN Secretariat can help with a list of members email addresses for you, or she could even send the message to members in your local area for you.  You can also see the other members in your area from the Members' Directory through the Members' Section of the website.

We have a number of documents to help with the running of your event, including:

And of course Roe is available at the end of the phone (02 6024 5349) or by email at info@apen.org.au to discuss any aspects.
