2017 GFRAS/APEN International Conference

The 2017 International Conference of the Australasia-Pacific Extension Network will be held from 12 to 15 September 2017 at the ‘The Ville’ Hotel in Townsville.  We will also be hosting international delegates from the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS http://www.g-fras.org/en/), who will be participating in a 3 day pre-conference meeting at Ingham, in the Hinchinbrook region.  You are most welcome to attend!  See the GFRAS meeting for details and to register: http://www.g-fras.org/en/annual-meeting-2017.htm

The theme of the conference is ‘Facilitating balanced change for rural and urban communities’ and will showcase the local and international extension theory and practice around production agriculture, natural resource management, community development and the health sector. 

Programmed sessions at the conference include:
• Using social media in extension.
• Engaging with farmers.
• Managing limited resources.
• Integrating Research and Extension.
• Extension policy development.
• The global village - effective project management and dealing with gender, health and nutrition issues.
• Field trips around the Hinchinbrook, Burdekin and Townsville areas for delegates to view first hand activities being undertaken on the ground. 
The Convenor of the conference is Lawrence Di Bella from Ingham and the committee includes a number of other members from Queensland as well as members of the APEN MC and three from GFRAS.

The conference field trips will be on the day between the GFRAS meeting and  the APEN part of the 2017 GFRAS/APEN International Conference.  You will need to get in quickly to secure your preferred field trip and the opportunity to network with international delegates as well.
